If your pups ears have a lot of hair on them, shave them off at least 1/3 of the way down. The ears will also droop down during teething, or sometimes after they receive shots. Unless you are going to show the dog, it is not important for the ears to stand, but a lot of people do want them up. I have seen yorkies with the floppy ears, and also those that have not had their tails cropped and they are all adorable.
