We live in a neighborhood full of dogs and I hear barking often. Halle is my worst barker (or so it seems maybe because her bark is high & shrill); she barks at anything & everything, or nothing in particular.
Multiply that by 3 dogs (my trio) and it gets VERY loud. I myself feel very paranoid of disturbing the neighbors even though there are dogs all around, so I normally don't let mine bark for more than a minute or so. Yes, we are out there often telling them to "quiet" and/or trying to distract them from what is making them bark. If they absolutely will not stop, then inside they go. Sometimes they seem to listen fairly well, other times they are as stubborn as mules.
