From my understanding, the UK doesn't have as much of an issue with Yorkies being overbred. Here in the US, there are BYBs at every corner breeding these poor little ones with no regard to the health issues that require the aforementioned health tests.
Sadly, in the area of the country where I live, 8 weeks or usually even younger is the "norm" release date too. However, that doesn't mean it's what's best.
