My Bella is 2 y/o and she has free roam of the house while we are at work (except the bathroom, laundryroom, and office for safety reasons). I come home at lunch to take her for a brief walk and give her some kisses to break up the day and let her potty. I originally tried to babygate her in the kitchen, but she has amazing jumping abilities and I always found her in the living room when I came home. There were a few little messes for me to clean up along the way while we potty trained, but now she is doing great with potty training (we just adopted her about 2 months ago) and just holds it for the 4 or 5 hours she is there by herself.
She does great while we are away, but I just wish I could take her to work with me! This morning she ran out into the garage when I was getting ready to leave and put her little paws up on the passenger door giving me a look of, "take me with you Mommy!" It broke my heart to have to put her back in the house! I am hoping to get her certified as a therapy dog so I can take her to work at least sometimes (I work at a hospital). |
