To the OP, I brought my first puppy home at 7 wks and 1 lb. I was with her all the time, retired, and was very careful with her and she did great healthwise. She does have some behavioral problems directly related to leaving Mom and littermates too early but I'm working on it.

You are so right.. a baby at 8 weeks old is just learning from mom how to behave and how to play an interact..I worry about that part..it is just too totally amazing watching a momma with babies from 8-12 weeks..and ya know she worries about the mommie.. well she needs to think about the momma losing those babies too young also.. she might not be ready.. anne
