the first check is at their 1 year check up. Before that, the test won't be accurate. It takes a few months for the heartworms to cycle through the body and in the first few stages its not detectable with the snap test vets use. If the pup is only a few months old its probably safe to say that they do not have heartworms, or if they do its probably in the first stage and a heartworm pill will cure it.
