Buy a little blanket and put it with the puppies and their mom for the next week. Then, when you bring him home with you, he will have something that smells familiar.

It is difficult with a puppy, but it helps a lot to take them for a walk during their first meeting. A 20 minute walk will let them know that they are part of the same pack and then you can simply walk them into the house together. Dogs only walk with their friends and family members, so walking together uses up their energy and makes them friends. When they are nice and tired, head home and don't make a big thing about the puppy being in the house for the first time. Just act like this is how it has always been.

7 weeks is a little young, but I got June at eight weeks and she has done very well. At 14 weeks, she can sit, walk on a leash and we are working on down, stay and sitting on her hind legs.

Do some research about dogs that age so that you know what to expect. Oh, and your present dog will teach her her social skills, so don't worry. (Given that your current dog is well socialized.)

Good luck!
