We sent ours UPS, too, and the guy told us that there is an automatic $100 insurance without having to formally insure. Guess it's the same elsewhere...something about their policy of guarantee, I think.
I had to call back to see about signature requirement because I forgot to mention it to the guy. Turns out it really doesn't matter....the driver himself/herself decides if it's safe to leave the pkg. without a signature even if you request one not be required. Go figure...probably relates to that automatic $100 of insurance they guarantee.
