I bought clear plastic tubing at the hardware store, slit it lengthwise down one side, then wrapped it around the cords. I then put the bitter apple on the tubing. The bitter apple has to be applied on a regular basis to keep discouraging them. If it should happen to wear off and they go after the cord, their teeth only hit plastic and not into the cord itself. After a time, mine finally lost interest in cords.
