When they're pups, just confine them to areas where they can't reach them. When you are home and watching the pup 24/7, if you see him/her go for something wrong, quickly correct them and say NO and give them something they CAN chew on, such as a toy or a bone.

They also have some kinds of bitter apple sprays you can spray on electrical cords, etc and they don't like the taste of it so it will make them less appealing.
