I'm don't think there is a food that prevents excessive tearing; you just have to find one that doesn't cause problems with your dog. I use Royal Canine for Yorkshire Terriers, and have no problems, but some people have problems with it for other reasons, itchiness, for example. I was looking for a more nutritious food, and Blue Wildernesses, a highly recommended brand, was the brand I chose, but I believe it caused the excessive tearing in Joey, this does not mean your dog would also be effected, so it's kind of hit and miss, finding a safe nutritious food with ingredients that don't cause a sensitivity in your dog.
