I know how you feel. My baby Max broke both of his front legs at the end of December. I did not take Max to an orthopedic surgeon, but rather my vet thought that she could take care of Max. The problem was that she didn't have experience in treating breaks in a dog that was as small as Max, he only weighs 2 lb 9 oz and is now 14 months old. The breaks never healed and he actually developed gangarine. I have now found an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in small dogs and Max's surgery is scheduled for June 1.

If anything like this happens again, I will not bring him to the vet but rather the surgeon.

Don't panic if you can't get into a surgeon until after the weekend. Just keep him from trying to run around, keep him warm, and give him lots of love.

Keep us posted..
