I have to agree with you. I think the descriptions are vague too. Here is a great article that might be helpful to you. It even has some illustrations of what the proper yorkie should look like. Going to shows really does help but even in the show ring you see a lot of different looks in the yorkies being shown. Everyone has their preferences.
