It is right here in their code of ethics: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America Code of Ethics
In general conversation I think we all use that term in describing a yorkie with a short muzzle. The reason most show breeders do not intentionally breed for the short muzzle is because often to get the short muzzle you end up with a underbite and that is undesirable. Personally the term 'teacup' does not bother me, to me it just describes a small yorkie but I know some people get all bent out of shape over that term. |
thank you for explaining that. my goodness, there is so much to know about this lovely breed!
i was really confused, so i went to read the description for physical characteristics (
American Kennel Club - Yorkshire Terrier) and the description is really vague. well, maybe it's not vague, but since i haven't seen/studied that many yorkies, i don't really know what they mean. i think it's easier for breeders or people who attend a lot of dog shows to be able to tell all the differences in their appearance.
