I'm generally not a "punk rock" fan. Never really listened to a KISS song and not crazy about their make-up and theatrics nor am I really an Elton John fan either. That doesn't stop me from enjoying the songs Elton John has written though but I usually prefer others singing it. The duet KISS did with Adam Lambert was fun to watch to say the least. Now it makes me curious to listen to other KISS performances. Much like I was never crazy about Aerosmith except for their one or two songs during their Armageddon release and had only purchased their album based on that one song--had to skip through the rest. They did that slow song amazingly well. For Adam Lambert, it wasn't a genre thing. As a matter of fact, I had started off disliking him but he grew on me big time each week since Top 36 no matter which song he sang. While I started off as a Danny fan, he quickly made me dislike him for what I saw him for and bored me for sounding monotonous each week save one or two performances. He didn't have much if not for the raspy voice--but that isn't a talent. Kris is a nice, sweet and honest guy. He learned to play a couple of instruments. He wrote music prior to Idol and he may continue to write music post Idol. This was a singing competition. Adam was vocally, the most gifted. But again, I wasn't expecting him to win in the end because Idol almost always finished with the "girl next door" and the "guy next door" types.

But I have the right to be disappointed too though I didn't expect to have gotten into it as much as I have. I guess reading those vicious nasty comments left on youtube and similar pages just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and has me joining in the critique. One thing I'm glad for is that it is over. No more idol bashing and hurt feelings. They are who they are and we'll be who we'll be. Life goes on and they've all gained their fame, fortune, and support from this whether it be for 15 seconds or 15 albums or 15 years. It is amazing and crazy at the same time how we can get so attached to some of these people after just following their lives twice a week for several months. Wow, after this, I find my Idol withdrawal has completely cleared. I'm over it already. I am not one to follow entertainment news normally, so I'll just do what I do and listen to the music and artists I enjoy on repeat until their next release.

I hope everyone is now able to enjoy the summer weather now that AI's over. I know for me at least there's nothing much else tying me to the television except for the reality news about a New Zealand couple who instead of getting NZ10,000 (USD6000) deposited into their account, they got a couple of extra zeros to the amount of NZ10,000,000 (US$6.1 Million). And, of course, they chose to disappear with it.
