YouTube has some good videos on teaching tricks.
I don't know of a dog that won't "work for food" so use it to coax the behavior you want until your furbaby will follow your command without a treat.
Use a treat that's really tasty-we use chicken or venison/fish jerky-and break it into lots of small pieces. I've even read some people lessen the meal when giving lots of treats during training when they're concerned about weight.
Always use a happy voice when your pup follows the command and make a really big deal of it in the beginning.
Keep it fun for both you and the pup.
