Ours is 36 inches and there is no way she can get out. I do use the door and the other night for the first time she was able to scoot past me and she was loose for the very first time. It was very scarey because she didn't come but played a catch me if you can game. I was so afraid that she was going to run into the street (which she didn't). I was finally able to lure her back into the house with her favorite treat. I now know that Piper can run like the wind. Just be careful with the door they are quick.
