I suspect she is being kept overnight because she is having her surgery later in the day. They want to make sure she safely recovers from the anesthesia and there are no complications before sending her home. Although they aren't fully staffed at night, most vets do check on them in the night.

I would ask if her surgery can be rescheduled to a day when surgeries are done first thing in the morning so she can come home that day.
