Things I have learned having owned a yorkie for eleven years in March. Yorkies seem prone to tummy upsets so need a routine with food and a diet of just dog food. If you give them human food or too many tit bits and they get tummy troubles it's easier to eliminate what caused it rather than having to change diets to see if the tummy trouble improves. Mine did get Collitis, which yorkies are also prone to, which is basically inflamatory bowel disease but I have got this under control with homeopathic medicines and he hasn't had trouble for two years. My yorkie still has ALL his teeth, has NEVER needed a dental as they are brushed every night before bed and so he can still enjoy crunchy dog food if he feels like it. If theres one piece of advice I can give you is look after it's teeth. My dog was very allergic to dog toothpaste and so I use warm water with a pinch of salt added. Males can get prostrate problems as mine did and so he was castrated at eight years of age and this solved the problem. When he was small he had milk teeth retention, thats when the large top or botton front fangs don't fall out and the new ones grow next to them, the baby ones were removed by a vet.
