I have watched many a docking video where the puppies are so obviously squealing in pain..it just breaks my heart...we all love and cherish our furbabies and want to protect them from pain so why would you want to cut parts of their bodies off just to make them look 'cuter' or 'prettier' to our eye? I just don't understand this at all...and i'm not posting this to rattle anyones cage...its just my total honest opinion. I for one think the yorkie looks wonderful with a full tail held high in pride and confidence..and the sooner the Top Show Yorkies around the world are being shown with a complete tail, the sooner everyone will accept it...I'm very very happy it is banned here in the UK.
I agree totally. There are some hunting/working dogs where it may be dangerous for them to have a tail, but I think for the Yorkie as a toy breed, it is soley for cosmetic reasons, and is totally uncalled for. I could never take any pups to have that done.

And while you might say it is the AKC standard, I think its time they changed the standard, the same way the UK did. Dogs were born with a tail for a reason. Would you start cutting off other body parts of your pup to make it look better? I very much doubt it!

In all honesty I think it is animal cruelty. How do we know what they can feel at 3 days old or whatever age they get it done.
