I use the pedi paws and it works great but this is what i do.
I cut Tyke's nails with the clippers I have then I take the guard off the pedi paws and use it to file his nails so they aren't sharp after they are cut. Kinda like we would file our fingernails to make them smooth. this works better because I don't have to sit there and count no more than 5 seconds on each nail.

I give him treats while I'm doing this and it works for me. Mine isn't very loud at all.

I bought the pedi paws at Bed Bath & Beyond. It sold for 20.00, but I had a 5.00 off coupon so I got it for 15.00. sorry you've had so many problems.
