I work from home so we aren't gone for long periods of time on a regular basis. Wrigley is pretty well potty trained and if we are going to be gone for less than 4-5 hours we just leave him out. He will be a year old on this Sunday. If we are going to be gone longer than that we put him into the kitchen with a gate keeping him in there. We leave him plenty of food and water either way.

Rae is 3 years old, but has a small bladder, and while I know she wouldn't get into anything - she does have accidents. So unless we are going to be gone less than about an hour, she goes into the kitchen with the gate up, again with plenty of water and food and toys (though she doesn't play with them).
