I thought Gilles was Great too, I think he deserved to win if you look at the whole season, though the flash dance thing wasn't up my alley. I think he had the least amount of dance background out of the three and he looked really comfortable in the dances.
I think it comes down to the "Star" part of dancing with the stars. Shaun is kind of like America's sweetheart. People wanted her to win at the olympics as she was so sweet and gracious and talented. As many people that saw Sex in the City I'm not sure that makes for the largest fan base. Also technology is geared toward a younger audience, in that a 14 year old with texting capabilities might think Gilles is old and should put a shirt on! On the same note, the 14 year old has probably never seen flashdance.
I think Cheryl is a great teacher. Julianne is my favorite to watch though.
