The important points I read were never put anything on the floor/bed/upholstered furniture at a hotel. I would have never put anything on a hotel bedspread or the floor and I use the luggage racks for suitcases but I'm sure I've put bags on a chair or something. Now I will hang any smaller bags from coat hangers in the closet. From what I read, they were pretty much eradicated from the US for a long time but have now been reintroduced and the pesticide most effective at eliminating them has been banned.

BTW, my husband got the bedbug bites in Minnesota.

eta: The scariest thing I read about them is that they can go up to 14 days between "feedings" so you won't always get bitten every night. It was at least 3 weeks before I relaxed and knew he hadn't brought any home.

wow, I didn't think about that. I don't travel very much, so that part is ok. I know with all the rain here in Florida, we now have to watch out for a little bit of everything. We have had rain for the last 5 days. Ick!
