Google image search bed bug bites, just to rule them out. A few months ago my husband was traveling for work and woke up with bed bug bites.
He didn't know what they were at the time but when he got home I searched and there was no mistaking them- they're pretty distinct. It was at a pretty nice Hilton too so it makes you feel like you aren't safe anywhere. He had to throw his suitcase away to be safe (as recommended by Hilton) and thank goodness he didn't bring them home.
