Same story here.....My former yorkie, Oscar, was the biggest beggar in the world and everybody thought it was the cutest thing they ever saw......my husband started it all and for the 13 years we had him Oscar would worry the
*#(@^* out of my husband ....didn't want to wait for him to finish his dinner...just wanted his good stuff NOW!!!!!!
He even taught himself the "sit pretty" begging thing!!!!! Any one who saw him beg and beg would give him a bite of something!!!
Eventually we noticed this was taking a toll on him...he began to not tolerate people foods as well even though he continued to beg. At age 12 he was over 13 pounds and aging quickly.....his joints went hurting and he had trouble breathing.....the final plunge came when he got deathly sick and the vet found his blood sugar to be over 700!!!!!!
He died the next day.......
We loved him "TOO MUCH".....and he maybe would still be here with us.
So now, Lil Bit gets NO PEOPLE FOOD....except I have caught my hubby doing it again.....I have convinced him the table food...even tiny bites (she is 2# 5 oz) gives her diarrhea and he will lay off for a while.
But the aging greyhound, Lori, is sooooooo spoiled...we know she is dying and have made it a point to feed her great stuff every day.....she has an iron stomach and loves every bite of it!!!! So when Lori runs to her food bowl....the whole gang follows her.....
