Hi.

Usually a biting tick will cause an itching sensation resulting in scratching moreso than licking. Even though you use a topical, ticks can still climb on your dog and hitchhike till it falls off somewhere (in your house). It is tick season, so just keep watch. Whenever I pet my dogs, I do a quick tick check. I look and feel for bumps all over both dogs...they think it's a massage! but I am checking for ticks.

If the tick is completely flat, it has not fed recently. Whether it bit or not,
can't tell. It might leave a small red spot that will last maybe a day or so.

I also visually check the bed before I get in it for ticks.

Hope this helps...
