is the problem that the clippers don't go threw his hair or that it glides over it because of the location that its in and you don't get a nice cut?

Is the hair matted because of a collar? if its matted or tangled do you brush it out first? Do you clip him before or after the bath?

I think the clipper's have a problem due to the area I am trying to clip.
Buddy never has mats in his coat. I brush him daily, only his head and
legs are long at this time. I clip him before he is bathed. He get's bathed
every other week, faithfully and just never get's dirty or smells. He always
smells do darn nice. I like bathing him after because any loose hair
goes down the drain. LOL
I think you have done a great job explaining this to me. I will order the
#7 blade and possibly #5 as well. Morgan always looks so nicely groomed.
Buddy only wears a harness while walking otherwise he's free of anything
in the house.
Thanks once again for all your expertise
