If at all possible you should try to let the pups nurse some so they can get some colostrum. It can be very challenging hand raising newborn puppies. The mom will need to lick them and stimulate them. |
My thoughts exactly! When the vet counts pups, he usually counts spines. How on earth he mistook 2 for 7 is beyond me. A vet might miss one but counting 5 extra???? Very odd.
And trying to tell the day of birth what kind of puppies make up a mix is impossible. I just am not sure I would stick with this vet unless his compassion outweighs some questionable statements. Love your name for your rescued Yorkie -- hope the pups continue to thrive! I would be curious to know how much the "huge" pups weighed too. Definately try to let momma nurse as much as possible -- it will be so much better for all concerned -- momma, pups and you!
