Default Not agility material!

One of our local parks had a "Dog Day" afternoon and had an agility course set up for anyone that wanted to go in and try it out. I had both of my little ones with me so I thought I'd give it a shot. Adie, who is the more athletic of the two caught on quickly. She would run up to the bar full speed then stop and kind of hop over it. Without fail. This drew a crowd of people with big dogs and all of them thought it was the funniest thing they ever saw! Until I tried Skeeter the porky yorkie. He was alright with the running but couldn't seem to understand that he was to go OVER the bar. He tried running around it and under it but not once would he try to jump it. Even with me jumping over it first and even with it no more than 2 inches off the ground!

Next we tried that in and out weaving thing. Again Adie excelled. she quickly figured out that it was easier to run beside the upright poles than in and out of them. Skeeter on the other hand managed to get his leash wrapped around not one but two of the poles at the same time!

So the only thing left was the long tube they are supposed to run through. I enlisted my dh to help me with that one. He held Adie at one end while I called to her at the other. Have you ever seen a dog look into one of those things and start screaming at the top of his or her lungs? She was very upset that she could hear Mommy but not see her and she wasn't about to rescue her from the big open mouthed thing! Skeeter, again on the other hand, trotted right in but didn't come out. He decided that it was a great place to take a nap!

So with my head lowered and my own sad tail tucked between my legs I left the agility course with my two darling dogs. Both seemed very pleased with themselves.
