Piper always gets a bump where a tick has been removed. The ticks are never engorged but just has attached. The bump is usually as big as a pea and can stay around for weeks. The vet said it was an allergic reaction to the tick bite. My first yorkie, Chip, really had allergic reactions to tick bites which started when he was around 8 years old. He would get the bump where the tick was attached but then he would get these bumps on his body that turned to sores that would blister, looked almost like chicken pox. The vet said that Chip would get a bacterial infection from the tick bite. Chip would then have to be on antbiotics and predisone.
