I'm sure we will get another bird nesting here soon! Usually it is the cardinals and wrens that nest in the ficus. A snake got some eggs a couple of years ago from the ficus and within a week or so there was a new nest.
As for the snake, it is a black snake which are harmless. My son and his two buddies started throwing stuff at the snake and trying to find things to poke it until I put a stop to it. They are actually good to have around. They kill the mice that will otherwise get into the house. This snake doesn't go into the air conditioner it goes right up the siding into the walls ~ eek! Every once in awhile we will find one in the garage... that freaks me out but I figure as long as it doesn't get into the actual house ~ I'm good.
