Hoping for thoughts on 'theory of mind' Ya know, after reading this again, I have a question.
I wonder how the behaviorist would explain a scenario where a dog owner frequently talks on a cell phone. Uses it several times in the dog's presence laughing and being quite animated while ignoring the dog and maybe even the dog's desire to play or relieve itself.
After several weeks of this the dog chews and hide the cell phone.
It seems like this behaviorist would be against the human idea of the dog being jealous of this cell phone.
Does the dog do this action because the cell phone itself is made to seem interesting?
Or that the cell phone takes away attention from the dog.
Or, maybe even that the dog owner is having a lot more fun with the cell phone instead of the dog.
Sheesh! I'm already confused as to which thougt the dog may have and which is what the behaviorist calls 'theory of mind.'
Thoughts anyone? |
