I do have a question though About Silky vrs Yorkie's I thought a Silky did have the long muzzle? ANd is larger then the yorkie breed? Am i mistaken? How does one tell these 2 a part? Should i start a new thread? Just curious? In tis lady's picture her little Yorkie was small, though, therefore, to me still fit the profile as a yorkie, with the petite features, and color markings> |
From what I understand (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Yorkies are originally from the UK (yorkshire), and silkies from Australia. Back then they would send the felons/prisoners to Australia and maybe they took their dogs with them? Since yorkies used to be owned by the lower class and for hunting rats. Once they took them to Australia they bred them to be larger perhaps there are larger rats down under???
But yes generally silkies are larger (more than 7 lbs). I did some research when we got Uni, and I looked at yorkies and silkies and they looked almost the same, except size.
