Eddie's first agility trial -- wish us luck! How you can tell Dad's more nervous than Eddie for his first agility trial today. I ...
* Conveniently took the week off work and said it didn't have anything to do with preparations for the weekend trial.
* Practiced with him outdoors every day, including once in the rain, to make sure he would run a course outside. He's only trained inside all winter.
* Took him to the field where he'll be competing twice to get him used to the sights and sounds and smells. Practiced at that field too.
* Bought a $100 canopy so I could fit in just like the real agility trialers.
* Set up the canopy 14 hours early. Embarrassed that mine isn't as cool as everybody else's. Afraid they'll call me "Trialer Trash."
* Went to bed at 11 p.m. -- 4 hours earlier than normal. Set two alarms for 6:30 a.m.
* Woke up at 5:30 a.m. to the sound of a Yorkie bark in my ear. Felt wide awake.
* Let the barker out to pee, and decided to stay up and fill a 12-cup thermous of coffee -- three cups at a time in a French press.
* Realized I'm the only one who's anxious when said barker when right back to bed and crawled in with his mama.
Wish us luck!
