My Piper was diagnosed with Legg Perthes Disease at 7 months. She had been spayed in November and needed hip surgery in December. I notified my breeder, not that I would ever consider returning her, but I thought she should be aware of the situation. The breeder was very upset about Piper. She said that never happened to any of her babies but she said that she had bought Piper's mother to improve her breeding program and that was the first time she had bred her. The breeder did pay for half of Piper's surgery and notified the owners of the other litter mates. They were all fine. I was quite surprised that the breeder offered any financial help. I didn't expect anything. The breeder ended up having Piper's mom spayed and rehomed as a pet.
