We have an almost 9-yr old male, neutered, registered, 5 lb yorkie. He did NOT transition well with baby #1 and baby #2 will be arriving soon, so we are looking to re-home him. Being 100% honest, he will NOT go to a home with small kids or other pets. He also doesn't like men since our house was broken into and he was home alone at the time. The ideal home is a single woman who has time to let him out. He is crate trained. He had bladder stones removed 3 years ago and needs to be let out every 4-5 hours during the day and can do a 9-10 hour stretch overnight. He is on a Rx food that can only be purchased from a vet, but is not expensive. Ironically, the yorkie rescue groups are not responding to my requests and if we don't find a home within one week, we are going to put him down. There is a rehoming fee to cover the food, leash, toys, crate, etc. Took this picture last year; his hair is cut very short right now. |
I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to sound mean, but, why would you rehome the oldest yorkie you've had? It's almost like you don't want them when they get older and only want the young ones. I have an 11 year old shih tzu, I'm sure she wasn't thrilled when i started bringing new ones home(6, 4, 11 mos and now 4 1/2 mos), but, mine are taught that not getting along is NOT tolerated. I'm the top dog in this house, and then the shih tzu is 2nd. The only one I have to watch, is the 11 mos old one, she's under 3 lbs. and she likes to just dare others to try taking her treat, then likes to show her teeth. That's all she does, and if she ever bit them, then we would deal with her, but, no way would I get rid of my 11 year old shih tzu for nothing. This was her home first, and if any of them had to go, it sure wouldn't be one of the ones that have been here this long! And, why in the world would you put him down in a week if you don't find him a home? I'm sorry, but, this just really upsets me, and I'm sure it's going to upset just about everyone else that reads this!
