I do not live in the area but wanted to make a suggestion. I have Milo groomed where he goes to doggy daycare, this way he plays all day and then when he is nice and tired they groom him and he is not crated. Doggy daycare was the smartest thing I did with him, when I go away I have no worries because I know he is with people who love him and he is comfortable he is never crated, and they groom there so it is a win win situation.
