We had a pound puppy once. We went through a lot of trials with parvo the first week we had him. But he was a good pet for 2 years, then he bit one of the neighbor kids. I did not see it happen and was suspicious the child had provoked our dog who had never been anything but sweet. Then less than a month later my one year old toddler wandered near him when he had a chewy. My son had not even touched him and the dog lunged and bit him right next to his eye! We were all shocked at the sudden viciousness. My DH found him another home that day.

I no longer assume a child may have provoked an attack! Some people should not have dogs, and some dogs should not be around children.
