The doctor called me and Matise did well in surgery and yes Matise did have a liver shunt and the doctor put the Ameroid Constrictor on it. He is recovering well. I just checked up on him and they are feeding him some dinner and giving him his meds. The doctor's prognosis is that he should make a full recovery and be a normal, happy puppy in 3 months time. This also means that there will be behavioral changes in him because he will be getting healthier as the shunt closes, so it will be an exciting new road that we will be traveling as we get to know this new side of Matise, more activity and a less reserved personality. We are very, very happy/relieved and very thankful with this prognosis and that everything looks good for him to have a healthy, happy life. He said that they will call me in the morning and he may possibly get to go home tomorrow. Then he will have 3 weeks of recovery with a strict no jumping, or extraneous activity- only flat surface activity, he must be kept calm. I can’t tell you all how relieved and happy we are for Matise. We couldn’t be more thankful for the advice, support and kind words that we have gotten from you all. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I will definetely keep you posted on his recovery.
