Hello...sorry to hear about Tini. I am also dealing with same troubles. Surgery has not been scheduled yet for Keiko.

As for how to approach your breeder, my contract was also for one year health guarantee, replacement puppy if the one I bought had any form of genetic or congenial defects. Wish I never signed it. After having him almost 11 mths how can I just give him back? Not happening!!! I have informed my breeder but have had no good response from her. No offers of help, financially. Doesn't really matter either way my lil guy will be taken care of. My breeder is telling me this disease is "unknown" of origin. I still wouldn't take the chance and continue breeding the pair where my little guy came from. But she insists that just the dogs affected by perthes should not be bred. So time to do some in depth research. I for one don't think it just happens, its got to come from somewhere.
