i think a good breeder, a reputable breeder would not have started as a BYB or a 'hobby breeder'. they would have studied everything they needed to know, and had a mentor, go to dog shows...etc. (done LOTS of preparations work in advance)
i don't think they would JUST START breeding their dogs and learn as they go... that would be a BYB.
