No it does not but some vets do it as a precaution.
They do need fecals regularly to see if they have worms and require treatment though. Some heartworm meds are also intestinal dewormers anyway.
Ellie has only been dewormed once in adulthood and that was only as a precaution and was really totally unnecessary.
