I guess if that is for 5-7 sessions it makes sense, but honestly I wouldn't do that unless it was for something serious like aggression or for like a multi-dog household where you could never take each dog to training individually.
Classes that you attend are worthwhile because the trainer can make sure your technique is appropriate and you can ask questions. It would be like taking a yoga class vs. watching a yoga DVD and trying to follow along. But once you learn the technique you can do it on your own at home
