All Yorkies are considered a toy breed. Although 4-7 lbs. is more of an average size, there are many less than 3 pounds. Your little one may stay just that little. But she may also surprise you with another growth spurt before she reaches a year old.

She can still be very healthy at 2 1/2 pounds. There are other tinies here and I hope their owners chime in to reassure you. You will just need to continue to be as careful as if she is a puppy for life. Tiny bones are fragile, tiny throats can choke easily, etc.... But they are also a delight to watch. I would love to have a tiny as it is that petite little regalness that first attracted me to the breed. But there are more dangers to consider.

First off I would be sure that she is spayed. Don't want to risk a pregnancy with that tiny of a Yorkie. I would also make sure you have steps or ramps to help her if she is allowed on beds or furniture. Be sure you have a vet that is experienced with tiny dogs as they do have their own set of requirements when it comes to allowing for shots, checking joints, and anesthesia.

Would love to see pictures of her too.
