Ben is an enigma! He is so sweet and loving in the evening as he curls up on the chaise with me. He wants my undivided attention when he is ready for it. Since we lost Sadie, he has been more attentive and loving than before. So, here he is the most adorable little guy ever and then ....
WHAM!
He is a monster! None of the other dogs are allowed to play with toys -- they are all his. If he hears a squeak from a toy in another room he is instantly alert and runs to retake what he feels is his alone. He also likes to go out the door first, in first, treats first -- everything first. He rules all of the older and bigger dogs, without question. Who am I kidding -- he rules us all!
He loves children. I really think he believes they are toys brought over for him to play with. He gets so excited and hyper but then just as they reach out he is a little leery and pulls away. He likes all people after having a time to get to know them. He has not been fond of the puppies and I think he is very jealous of the attention they get.
He is a barker at unknown noises, cats, and squirrels or when overly excited during play, but not bad. He loves being coo'd to and petted softly. He will let you rub his ears or belly forever and when you do stop he puts his head under your hand and lifts to get you going again. He likes to position himself between us and the TV and whimper for attention if we are watching a movie or longer show. It is pitiful.
In short Ben is all about Ben. And I would not trade him for a million bucks! |
