My best friends mom's cat lived to be almost 21, and my husbands dog growing up lived to be just over 21. I was skeptical at first, but they had pictures of him when they got him when my sister in law was just a baby, and he died before she turned 22, 9 years ago. I have been married to my husband for almost 13, and together for almost 16, and I can say that dog never acted old until just before he died.
