You will see on this list that corona and lepto (like kalina82 mentioned) are on the NOT RECOMMENDED list. It is beyond me why vets continue to insist on it.

I do like it suggests and have titer tests done on Wookie to see if his immune system needs any vaccines. In fact I am waiting on his current results to come in. Vets are also supposed to take in consideration each animals specific lifestyle and needs when vaccinating. Not just giving an across the board, every dog the same thing, annual vaccination.

It is also my understanding that vets should not be giving a multi vaccine shot at all. Each vaccine should be given separately and in different quadrents of the dogs body. The reason being if there is a reaction to a vaccine, if they are given all at once in one area, how do they know what the dog reacted to? And if there is a reaction, they are required to report it to the vaccine manufacteror. Many don't do this either.

I have a vet that I go to once year for his annual check up and titers. He is wonderful, he has a hollistic approach, but understands there is need for conventional medicine as well. His name is Dr Messionnier and he wrote The Natural Health Bible for Dogs and Cats (great book, I had it for a long time before I realized he practiced in my area!). He says that in his studies he has seen proof that the bordatella vaccine lasts a lot longer than the 6 months the vets say it does, so that giving the vaccine every 6 months is too much. He also recommends the nasal vaccine, not the injectable one.
thank you so much for this info.!
