Sorry you're having a rough time with him. The first year is really challenging. I really like the pennies in the can for training not to bark. I keep several cans available, and use them every time he barks. The noise has to be loud enough to get their attention, and you shake it for each bark and say "no". Never let them get the last bark. The eating everything in site will lesson over the years, but barking won't unless you teach him not to do it. It takes time, and it's important to never yell, this just agitates them more. It will seem like the pennies agitates them, but eventually they will learn they you have more willpower than they do, and will stop barking after a few shakes. In time, just the word, "No" works or fingers to the lips in a sh sh' ing motion. Best of luck, it's a lot of work, but it really pay off. |
