Lightbulb I'm thinking of getting another Yorkie

I have Wiggy, my 3.5 years old Yorkie, who is rather large for a Yorkie. He is very attached to me and won't even eat unless I am home, unless I take a vacation, then he will eventually eat. I also have Atlas, a 7.5 years old Weimaraner, who is VERY large for his breed. He is a very gentle dog and doesn't have a bit of aggressiveness in him. He loves Wiggy and is very protective of him. I also have two cats that I keep outside because they destroy things.

Obviously, there are many things to consider. The single most important thing that I want is to have another dog before the sad day comes that Atlas passes on. He is very healthy at this time and the vet said he could live to be 15. But nobody knows for sure...Atlas is fit for his size, but he does weigh over 100 pounds and has scar tissue in his lungs and food allergies.

The next thing to consider is Wiggy. Wiggy doesn't like many other dogs, but he does love other Yorkies. I know he would love to have a new Yorkie to play with. However, being a larger Yorkie with a dominant personality, I worry about jealousy and possible bullying. On the other hand, it is already decided that I will get another Yorkie at some point. He has lived with my sister's Yorkie before and things were fine. Her Yorkie is half his size, but even spunkier.

I cage-trained my Weimaraner for housebreaking, but I didn't have the heart to do this with Wiggy. As a result, it took a long time to housebreak Wiggy. I worry that I will repeat that mistake and it might possibly cause Wiggy to mark indoor territory.

I work a lot and wish for my dogs to be happy when I am not home. I have temporary roommates to help, but they will probably leave over the summer. My dad comes over and spends time with the dogs when I am gone for more than five hours.

I have a list of pros and cons in my mind and I'm planning to put them on paper. I'm looking for suggestions, ideas and thoughts that may not have occurred to me.

Thank you,

Valentino aka Wiggy
